Mr. Connor was presented with a plaque at this week's board meeting for his services provided to the Upland USD. The meeting was held at Cabrillo Elementary School.
Mr. Connor has taught in Upland USD for the past 29 years. He began his teaching career at Upland JHS beginning August 1994. He taught the first 10 1/2 ish years at Upland JHS where he taught woodshop, technology, and PE. Mr. Connor coached Football, Basketball, and Track at UJHS for 10 years. He moved to Hillside High School in October 2005 where he taught Algebra for 11 years, technology for 18 years, construction, and farming. He coached Football, Basketball, and Soccer at Hillside. The football program won the league title in four out of the five seasons he coached. He coached the basketball team one year, going undefeated and beating a Pomona team for the league title in the Upland HS Gym.
Prior to teaching Mr. Connor had coached track and field at a junior high school in Orange County for two years. Mr. Connor also coached the freshman and JV basketball teams at Pomona HS in the 80s.
Recent health issues have made it clear to Mr. Connor to pursue other activities such as hiking, gardening, and building outside of the educational setting.
