Sound....Today We Explore Sounds Wed 2/1

Today's assignment involves sound. I would like you to experiment with different types of Internet sound files.

There are several types of sound files that can be found on the internet, including:

  1. WAV - a raw, uncompressed format that provides high quality sound
  2. MP3 - a compressed format that is widely used for digital music
  3. AAC - another compressed format that is used for digital music and video
  4. OGG - a free, open-source format that provides good sound quality and small file size
  5. FLAC - a lossless, compressed format that provides high-quality sound without taking up a lot of disk space
  6. MID - a format used for storing MIDI information, often used for digital music
  7. AIFF - an uncompressed format used by Apple in their products.

These are some of the most common types of sound files found on the internet, but there are others as well.

I would like you to find 8 sounds and download them

  1. Thunder/lightning
  2. Animal
  3. Applause
  4. Wind
  5. Background City
  6. Laughter
  7. A spoken line from your favorite movie
  8. Your choice of a sound
There are different sites and different ways to download the sounds, we will share in class how you were able to download the sounds.

Place the 8 sound files into a folder entitled SOUND on your desktop, then place the sounds in the iMusic

A Blast from the Past

Here is what a sneaky mean rooster can due to you when you are not looking. This injury occurred in 2018, needles to say this rooster is no longer around

Once we had goats and this is what they are capable of climbing.

Explore an open AI App

Today we are going to explore ChatGPT

ChatGPT is a language generation model developed by OpenAI, designed to generate human-like text based on the input provided to it. It has been trained on a large corpus of text data to predict the next word in a sentence, given the previous words as input. It can be used for various applications such as chatbots, language translation, text summarization, etc.

It is a technology that, frankly, scares me. All of the sci-fi movies I watched growing up as a young person always seem to have some type of computer/AI that went wrong and destroyed the world. Well, we are now to the point where it is all real. So, we can either embrace the technology and try to understand it and its uses, or?

Well, it did not work too well today. Per 3 and part of Per 4 were not able to sign into Chat. Per 5 & 6 students did an alternate activity

More Rain!

This photo is of a restroom at the beginning of a trailhead in Tahoe. I have started hiking from this location many times. I just have not seen this much snow there before. The small-looking building is 10' tall.

On Sunday I was taking a hike, hoping to beat the rain. I did not! I did discover that my old rain gear is no longer waterproof! With that said, we did prepare for rain, just in case. Many, most people on the trail had not prepared. Most were wearing cotton tee shirts and cotton hoodies. It was 48 degrees.

Seeds Planted in 1020 Trays in Preparation of Spring and UJHS Carnival

Today we mixed soils and placed them in some 1020 seed trays. Period seven students began placing seeds into them. We planted watermelons, pumpkins, squash, and some others that escape me at the moment. We are planting the seeds for both the HHS garden and to sell the plants we hope they grow into at the UJH Fair in March. Period 1 the next morning continued planting seeds. We have 12 trays and 10 pots with soil and seeds.

Eggs Placed in Incubator

During Period 7 students placed the 12 eggs into the incubator. It takes 20 days for the eggs to hatch. The incubator is set at 100 degrees during the entire process. During the last 3 days, the rocker will be removed from the incubator and the humidity will be raised to 65%. Prior to the 17 day, I like to leave the humidity between 25% and 35%.
