Saturday Work

Today students worked on the ceiling, vent line, insulation, mobile portable storage container, green board drywall in the bathroom, and clean up of the construction area for their community service work.

Vent Line installation: The students installed a traditional home 1 1/2 inch vent line for the sewer system. The only thing we did differently was to use a mobile home/rv sewer vent line roof connector.
Also, in the top left picture, you can see where we relocated the upstairs light switch this week. We thought that if someone left the light on in the old location they would have to climb back up the ladder to turn off the lights. This way the switch can be reached from the lower level as well.

Q3W9 End of Q3

Today was the last day of quarter 3 of the 2022-2023 school year. Today I posted all of the work we completed in the 3rd quarter and gave each student the opportunity to complete any missing work. To distract them I provided quesadillas in class. I love cooking before breaks and the end of the quarters, LOL.

Today students put in an effort to install any of the insulation we needed to replace from work recently completed.

UJHS Fair postponed to April 12th due to forecasted rain

The weather for this week is rainy, with 2.5" and another 1.5" scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. We had rain in the AM today. Upland decided it would be safer to postpone the event until after spring break. The new date still provides enough time to get some eggs into the incubator for the event and have the eggs hatch prior.

Bittersweet Symphony

'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, that's life
Tryna make ends meet, you're a slave to money then you die
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places where all the veins meet, yeah
No change, I can change
I can change, I can change
But I'm here in my mold
I am here in my mold
But I'm a million different people
From one day to the next
I can't change my mold
No, no, no, no, no
(Have you ever been down?)
Well, I've never prayed but tonight I'm on my knees, yeah
I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah
I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now
But the airwaves are clean and there's nobody singin' to me now No change, I can change I can change, I can change But I'm here in my mold I am here in my mold And I'm a million different people From one day to the next I can't change my mold No, no, no, no, no (Have you ever been down?) I can't change, oh, no I can't change, oh 'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, that's life Tryna make ends meet, tryna find somebody then you die I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down You know the one that takes you to the places where all the veins meet, yeah You know I can change, I can change I can change, I can change But I'm here in my mold I am here in my mold And I'm a million different people From one day to the next I can't change my mold No, no, no, no, no I can't change my mold No, no, no, no, no, I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no It's just sex and violence, melody and silence It's just sex and violence, melody and silence I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down Been down Ever been down Ever been down Ever been down Ever been down Have you ever been down? Have you ever been down? Have you ever been down?

This song reminds me of many of the students I have encountered over the past 19 years at HHS. Such a well-written song, with such a beautiful melody, but the image in the video of the song is of a young man walking down the center of the sidewalk bumping into people along the way. It's so similar to the HHS student, some find a new path to lead, but many still remain on the only path that they have ever been on.

This This song reminds me of Hillside
