On December 31, the rain finally ended after three straight days and it became snow, 29" of snow. The snow is welcomed and much needed for our water supplies but made it a bit difficult to drive home on Newyears Day.
The snow begins.....
The night of the storm.
This was my drive for the first 100 yards until I was able to get to a partially snow-plowed road.
This is a photo of the car that was parked next to our car.
Here we go!
The Plowed Road
This is highway 50 it is one of four ways to get into or out of Tahoe. It was one of just two ways open. Kirkwood is a major ski resort in the Tahoe Basin, it received 77" of snow on the 31st.
The city of San Francisco received its second most amount of rain in one day on the 31st, records have been kept since 1849.
This photo shows the traffic of cars trying to get into Tahoe on highway 50. The traffic was over 10 miles long.
