As promised we had chicks begin hatching on Sunday, November 28th. I arrived at school to find two eggs had already hatched with one working on breaking out of the shell. As students arrived on Monday our number of hatching s had grown to seven. During period two we had one more egg hatch, giving us a total of eight. The egg that hatched during period two was from the darkest brown egg collected. The chick's fluffy feathers are a beautiful silver grey!
As far as what I did on break....well, like most of you I did not go anywhere, I did not travel out of town. I live in a home and the area I live in has an HOA, I had received a letter stating that I was leaving my trash cans out beyond trash day. The reason for this is the gate to the backyard was not working correctly. I spent a morning rebuilding the gate to allow the trashcans into the backyard.
As with most families, we had relatives over for Thanksgiving on Thursday. We had a turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberries, vegetables, and pies!
I was excited that World Cup Soccer was playing each day. it was fun watching American players playing against the likes of the Welsch and English teams. Spain looked very dominant winning their match 7-0 over Costa Rica.
The last thing I did was begin planning a trip for this summer. The trip we are planning is a 15-day, 110-mile hike around a mountain called Mount Blanc. The mountain is within three countries, Italy, France, and Switzerland. On Saturday I spent literally the entire day booking Refuges and hotels.
